Foster Carers – the Unsung Heroes

There are approximately 4,000 children living in care at the moment in New Zealand. Child Youth & Family work hard to keep kiwi children safe. Open Home Foundation provides a variety of services for children and young people in need. The OHF website http://www.ohf.org.nz/services lists some of these services.
New Zealand has a real challenge with child abuse. Some families are not operating in a healthy way. We need organisations like Open Home Foundation to enable caregivers to have a break and for young people to be safe and secure. To me the caregivers, and some of young people who show remarkable resilience, are genuine kiwi heroes.
I’m currently raising funds for the Open Home Foundation using fundraiseonline. This weekend I’ll be doing a 15km Walk for Youth. If you’d like to make a donation you’ll find the link here: http://www.fundraiseonline.co.nz/RogerEllis/
